Felon slain by Happy Valley deputy found with 9mm Glock
Jeremiah Wright shot by Clackamas County Deputy Casey Newton as investigation continues
Details surrounding the deputy-involved fatal shooting in Happy Valley are slowly coming out, as officials on June 9 released the name of both the suspect and the deputy.
A little after 2 a.m. on June 7, Jeremiah Wright was driving a stolen vehicle, the Clackamas County Sheriff s Office said. Wright, who had recently been released from prison with a record in both Oregon and Nevada, had a 9mm Glock pistol.
Deputy Casey Newton tried to stop him. The chase ended near Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Eagle Glen Drive, where Wright got out of the car and tried to run.
The 18-year-old driver in a crash Monday that killed three teenagers and injured two others was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday morning.

A climber who was descending Mount Hood in Oregon fell 500 feet to his death this weekend.
The 63-year-old, whose name was not shared by authorities, was climbing the mountain with his adult son on Sunday during “an unusually busy weekend for climbing” at the volcano when he fell from an elevation of 10,500 feet around 9 a.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office shares.
The department set up a search-and-rescue team after witnesses called 911, the
New York Post reports. The Portland Mountain Rescue and the Hood River Crag Rats search-and-rescue team pitched in to help with the search.
