Search & Rescue Had a Busy Saturday
Snowmobilers kept the Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue busy with several calls southwest of West Yellowstone this weekend.
The first call on Saturday came in from the Two Top trail system about 12 miles southwest of West Yellowstone at 11:16 a.m. when a 64-year-old woman crashed her snowmobile. She was stopped when another rider crashed into the back of her. This sent her and her snowmobile down an eight-foot embankment and launched her over the handlebars.
She was placed on a backboard and into a special snow ambulance before being transported by helicopter to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The woman required a medical helicopter to respond because of the severe injuries she sustained to her ribs, back, femur, and wrist.
