BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police say they have arrested the driver who is accused of causing a fatal 16-vehicle crash on the old US 190 Mississippi River Bridge on Feb. 23.
Janaria James, 13, of Plaquemine, died as a result of the crash.
Marlin Jordan, 42, of Addis, was arrested and charged with negligent homicide on April 14 for allegedly causing the crash, authorities say.

BATON ROUGE - Across the nation, a number of large cities are reporting an increase in theft and violent crimes, including a significant increase in carjackings. During 2020 New Orleans reported carjacking calls to 911 increased by 126 percent.
But large cities aren t the only areas that have been impacted. On Tuesday, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff s Office (EBRSO) issued a warning to residents in communities just outside of the Parish, saying that an increasing number of citizens in these areas have been targeted in carjacking incidents.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - An Uber driver has been arrested for allegedly kicking down the door of an LSU studentâs off-campus apartment and entering the home only to be scared off by the presence of the studentâs roommate, according to arrest records.
According to arrest records obtained by WAFB, Jose Cruz Fernandez, 48, of St. Gabriel, was arrested on Wednesday, April 14 on the charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Deputies say Fernandez, while working as an Uber drive, picked up a passenger, who is an LSU student, and began driving them to their off-campus apartment in the 400 block of Ben Hur Road around 2 a.m. on April 7.
