The Knights ended the season with 16 national top-10 marks, including chart-toppers in the 400 (Dallas Wright, 48.42), 5000 (Joe Freiburger, 14:25.87) and DMR (9:53.96). Wright, who is also ranked in the top-5 in the 60H (No. 4, 8.10), is one of several Wartburg athletes ranked among the top-10 in multiple events: Christopher Collet (No. 4, mile; No. 6 3000), Freiburger (No. 1, 5000; No. 3, 3000; No. 6 mile) and Derrick Smith (No. 2, 200; No. 5, 60) are some others. Loras jumped three spots from Week 7 to Week 8 and concluded the season with 13 national top-10 marks. Mike Jasa is the only chart-topper with his 800-meter effort of 1:51.31, but eight other performances reside in the top-5 nationally, including two second-best showings in the 4×400 (3:16.51) and DMR (10:06.49).

March 16, 2021 USTFCCCA Recognizes XC All-Americans TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –   All-America honors for the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Three members of the Florida State cross country teams captured those accolades. Athletes from member institutions earned All-America recognition by finishing among the top-40 athletes in their gender’s respective races on Monday at the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships  in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women’s team finished the cross country season ranked 15th after heading into the NCAA Championships 18th. The Seminoles made their debut in the week one poll at No. 21 on Oct. 27.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country programs have served as gold standards under head coach Mark Hostetler, and those on the national stage are taking notice. The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named Hostetler as the 2020 Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year for the state of Iowa. This past season was another banner year for the Golden Hawks, literally, as Hostetler guided the Golden Hawk girls to their fourth consecutive team class 2A state championship, led by his daughter Danielle Hostetler who captured the school’s fifth straight individual championship, and fifth for the family overall as older sisters Marie and Anna were also Iowa state champions in their time at Mid-Prairie. The team championship for Hostetler in 2020 was his sixth as a coach.
