A Mayo community is petrified by excessive speeding on road crossings between the N26 and N58.
That s according to Foxford-based Councillor Neil Cruise, who has called for members of An Garda Siochana to patrol the network of local roads around the Cloongullane Bridge road works.
The Fine Gael Councillor had called for speed ramps to be installed along the road at meetings of Mayo County Council and the Ballina Municipal District, to no avail.
He will bring the matter before the council s roads strategic policy committee next week.
Call for clarity on the reopening of schools
Labour TD Aodhan O Riordain says clarity s needed on the reopening of schools.
He says teachers and SNAs need to know they ll be working in a safe environment.
The Government will finalise the plans for the phased reopening of schools at next Tuesday s Cabinet meeting.

Roscommon national school approved for funding to expand facilities
A school in Roscommon has been approved for funding under the Additional Accommodation Scheme 2021.
Carrick National School, Ballinlough will see their facilities expanded upon with classroom en-suite toilets, wheelchair accessibility, special educational teacher rooms, along with prefab rental for two years.
Fianna Fail Senator Eugene Murphy told Midwest News that this is a major development at the school.
