At the same time, a more contagious strain of the virus, called the delta variant, is raising concern amid an uptick in COVID-19 cases, particularly in pockets of the country with low vaccination rates. Just this week, Philadelphia issued new guidance “strongly recommending” that everyone wear masks indoors, in part because of the variants. Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties, as well as New Jersey, have said they do not plan to change their mask guidance.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police say a man accused of firing into a crowd during a large fight has died after being shot by officers in Kensington. It happened on the 3000 block of North Water Street around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. According to police, people were bumping into the officers cars as they began to attempt to break up the fight.
