The deputy proceeded to conduct a traffic stop to warn and cite the driver. After making contact, the deputy learned that the man behind the wheel was not only a convicted felon on active parole, but also driving on a suspended license. “A search of his vehicle resulted in the recovery of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, as well as a loaded short barrel rifle and a large bag of ammunition,” wrote Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, in an official post Wednesday morning.

A stolen vehicle suspect was taken into custody in Canyon Country Thursday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m., a patrol deputy spotted a wanted stolen vehicle on Soledad Canyon Road near Ruether Drive in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Deputies requested immediate backup to their location before attempting to make a traffic stop but never initiated a pursuit, according to Sheriff’s officials. By the time backup arrived, deputies conducted a felony traffic stop in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy on Soledad Canyon Road near Camp Plenty Road, Arriaga said.

One Hospitalized Following ‘Use Of Force’ In Burglary Investigation One individual was hospitalized Wednesday night after a “use of force” during a burglary investigation in Newhall, officials said. Just before 7:30 p.m., deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station engaged a suspect in a burglary, known to have a no-bail warrant for their arrest, and set up a containment in the area around Old Orchard Park, according to Sergeant Barkon with the Station. “We did detain one but we are still investigating,” Sergeant Barkon said. “We are not sure if it’s the same person who ran or another suspect.”

Around 2:25 p.m., first responders received reports of a possible stabbing on Soledad Street and Furnivall Avenue in Canyon Country, said Jon Matheny, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
