Canyon Country Assault Suspect Arrested After Striking Victim In Torso
A Canyon Country assault suspect was arrested Tuesday after allegedly striking an individual in the torso during a verbal altercation.
On Tuesday around 2:20 p.m., deputies responded to Furnivall Avenue and Soledad Street in Canyon Country regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, two males were detained pending investigation,” Arriaga said.
During the investigation, deputies learned during a verbal dispute, the suspect struck the victim with an object in his torso, according to Arriaga.
A convicted felon was arrested in Valencia after deputies reportedly found a “loaded short barrel rifle” in his car during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Bakersfield Resident Arrested For Carjacking, Assault In Castaic
A Bakersfield resident was arrested over the weekend on charges of a carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon in Castaic.
On Friday, Jan. 8, at about 9:40 p.m., deputies responded to The Old Road near Church Street in Castaic regarding a carjacking, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim and learned while the victim was seated in his vehicle east of The Old Road,” Arriaga said. “A male adult approached the front driver’s side of his vehicle, and struck the victim in the face with a hard object through his open window.”
UPDATE: One Shot In Altercation With Retired Deputy In Canyon Country
One person was shot and taken to a hospital Monday afternoon after reportedly ramming into a gate in Sand Canyon, leading to an altercation with a retired Sheriff’s deputy in Canyon Country.
UPDATE (7:55 p.m.): Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) held a press conference near the scene of the incident Monday evening to provide details on their investigation.
“Shortly after 2 p.m. today, deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Station received a call of a traffic incident here at the front gate,” said Lieutenant Charles Calderaro with the LASD Homicide Bureau. “What we later learned is that an individual…had approached the front gate and had rammed it with his truck.”
