Gifted thespian and Academy Award-favorite Carey Mulligan has yet another award to add to her burgeoning collection of accolades as âThe Great Gatsbyâ star received the Cinema Vanguard Award at the 36th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Monday, Apr. 5.Â
The tribute, which honors actors who have âthe tenacity to forge new ground in their craft,â was in recognition of Mulliganâs electrifying performance in âPromising Young Womanâ (2020), a black comedy in which she plays Cassie Thomas, a recalcitrant medical school dropout who dedicates her life to avenging the rape of her best friend.Â

Bill Murray is opening up about making the 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II, revealing that he was outfoxed into making it.
The 70-year-old actor received the Maltin Modern Master Award from film critic Leonard Maltin at the 36th Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday, where he admitted he was reluctant to make the sequel.
Murray, who played the eccentric Peter Venkman, admitted he was the most reluctant out of the cast, but one particular pitch from the studio swayed him. although it was not ultimately a part of the movie.
