Society Vietnam reported nine new community cases of COVID-19 infection on Wednesday morning, bringing the national tally to 1,891 patients, with 1,461 recoveries and 35 virus-related deaths. Seventy-five students and ten teachers at Bach Dang Kindergarten in Kinh Mon Town, northern Hai Duong Province have been quarantined at the campus after a four-year-old student caught COVID-19. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar to keep a close watch on the situation in the host country, while staying in close contact with local agencies, regularly updating on local information, and standing ready to roll out measures to protect Vietnamese citizens if necessary.
Airport operator profits down sharply

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam has reported a 79 percent fall in net profits in 2020 to VND1.7 trillion ($73.9 million).
The company, which runs all 22 civil airports in Vietnam, earned revenues of VND7.8 trillion, down 57.5 percent.
It achieved a loss of VND356 billion in the second quarter, the first quarterly loss since 2016, but saw a revival in subsequent quarters.
The aviation industry will recover in 2021 with the advent of coronavirus vaccines, SSI Securities Corporation has forecast.

Field hospitals in Hai Duong put into operation in response to COVID-19 outbreak
Two field hospitals with a combined capacity of treating 600 COVID-19 patients have been set up in northern Hai Duong province within just 24 hours.
At an online meeting on January 29 with health units in charge of establishing the hospitals, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long hailed the fast action of Hai Duong, with the support from the Health Ministry, the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases and Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi.
One of them was built at the medical centre of Chi Linh city, and staffed by 45 doctors and about 70 nurses who can provide treatment for 200 patients. The hospital has admitted 31 patients, including one with underlying diseases and two pregnant women.
Vietnamese airlines’ on-time performance (OTP) from December 19, 2020 to January 18, 2021 reached 95.4 percent, a year-on-year rise of 9.7 percentage points, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
