Cleveland man Pleads Guilty in the Shooting of a Cleveland Police Officer

Brennan announced that 43-year-old Darryl Borden, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty in federal court today to being a felon in possession of a firearm after Borden shot a Cleveland Police Officer responding to a call for help last July. “Borden ambushed two Cleveland Police Officers who were simply trying to do their job and assist a member of the community,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Brennan. “During Police Week, a time where we celebrate the accomplishments of law enforcement and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, it is important to remember that situations like this are all too common, and our police officers and other law enforcement regularly risk their lives to protect and assist the communities they serve.”

Cleveland court: Alexander Lackey pleads not guilty to rape

Updated: 11:52 AM EDT April 9, 2021 CLEVELAND Bond was set at $100,000 after Alexander Lackey, 35, pleaded not guilty in court Friday to multiple charges, including five counts of rape. His first pre-trial has been set for April 19 at 9 a.m. Conditions of his bond include court-supervised release, surrendering his passport, GPS monitoring and no contact with the victim. 3News’ Mark Naymik reported earlier this week that a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury secretly indicted Lackey last month on five counts of rape, three counts of sexual battery and one count of domestic violence. Cleveland City Hall hired Lackey in December 2014 as a special assistant to the mayor, according to 2019 city payroll records. His annual salary is $64,500, the records show.
