Denharrio Lewil, 18, pleaded guilty to three amended charges while admitting to shooting at D’ante Whitfield, 22, with a semi-automatic pistol in the 400 block of South 14th Street. Instead of killing Whitfield, Lewil’s shots killed his nearby sister, J’Lynn Beason. Beason, 18, died the next day at a Des Moines hospital.

cthompson@messengernews.net Residents 65 and older in Webster County will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccinations today, according to a press release from UnityPoint Health Trinity Regional Medical Center. Webster County Department of Public Health notified the Fort Dodge hospital that it may begin to vaccinate community members, using vaccines that were not utilized for Phase 1A (health care workers). UnityPoint Health will begin vaccinating priority populations 65 years and older, starting today, using this remaining supply from Phase 1A. The hospital will notify patients via phone, direct mail and/or through MyUnityPoint, its online patient portal, when vaccine is available for them to schedule an appointment.

Three Juveniles Charged Following Two-County High-Speed Chase Wednesday Morning

Three juveniles have been charged following a high-speed chase that started early Wednesday morning in Jefferson and stretched into Webster County. At approximately 4:41 a.m., a Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a northbound 2001 Honda Accord speeding out of town at 80 mph. Authorities say the vehicle refused to yield to lights and sirens as it raced north on Highway 4, reaching speeds over 130 mph at times. The chase continued for another 15 miles before the deputy discontinued pursuit at the intersection of Highway 4 and 360 th Street in Webster County. Law enforcement was notified by a Webster County Roads crew that the suspect vehicle had crashed into a ditch north of the Baxter Avenue and 370
