Since the beginning of the month, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed the lives of 47 borough residents, while nearly 3,400 confirmed cases of the disease were added to Staten Island’s total, city Health Department data shows. And while those numbers rose, coronavirus hospitalizations here have dropped sharply from the count on April 1.
