FULL practices and scrimmages are set to resume for nine PBA teams this week in faraway Batangas City since quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila keep them from training in their usual practice venues.
Reigning Philippine Cup champion Barangay Ginebra, Phoenix, San Miguel, Alaska, Magnolia, Rain or Shine, Blackwater, NorthPort, and Terrafirma are set to restart their build-up for the season either on Thursday or Friday.
Three Batangas gyms will be hosting the practices for now since gyms and indoor facilities in the NCR+ bubble remained closed after protocols were downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
Construction of the first 5-kilometer section of the P23 billion NLEX Connector, between Caloocan and España Interchanges, is 35 per cent complete and has reached Abad Santos Street and Blumentritt, Manila.

Batangas City will allow PBA teams the option to hold regular practices inside the city once protocols and necessary requirements are finalized.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua received a nod of approval from Mayor Beverly Dimacuha and Batangas fifth district representative Marvey Marino during talks held Saturday.
Marcial also said that Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra, whose agency is part of the Joint Administrative Order, is also backing the proposal aimed to help teams resume practice despite the current COVID-19 situation.
Other details will be ironed out before the venues, including the Batangas City Sports Center, can welcome the teams.
