Justice NV Ramana has received the Warrant of Appointment and a copy of the Notification of Appointment. His tenure will start from April 24, 2021 and last till August 26, 2022.

They swiftly adapted to revaluate their operating model in view of the COVID-19 situation.

CJI Bobde, who succeeded Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the country’s topmost judge in November 2019, nominated Justice Ramana as his successor last month, through a letter to the Union law ministry.

Accepting the recommendation made by the outgoing Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, retiring on April 23, the President has appointed Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana as the 48th CJI.
