Unhappy over delayed highway projects which amount to Rs 3.15 lakh crore, a parliamentary panel has asked Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to prioritise their completion instead of announcing new projects. The delayed 888 projects pertain to construction of 27,665 km of national highways.

NHAI has warned motorists not to fall prey to people who are selling fake
FASTags online, which look very similar to the real ones and are caught only at toll booths

FASTag being made mandatory, motorists said some frauds are even encashing on this. Some of the people sell
fake FASTags that the motorists come to know are fake only when they are stopped at the toll gates for not having a ‘valid’ FASTag.
The
National Highways Authority of India has also pointed out this problem by displaying flash messages on its website warning the motorists of this scam. The message reads, “It has been reported that some fraudsters are selling FASTags online making them appear to be as those of NHAI. They are selling fake FASTags which are not valid to cross
The committee notes that the debt servicing liability of NHAI for the next three Financial Years is even higher than the estimates that the Ministry had provided to the Committee, it said.
