This comes after a sharp increase in the number of locally transmitted COVID-19 infections. Restaurants and food stalls located close to hospitals have also been told to switch to take-away services. In the directive sent to local authorities in the capital city on Tuesday, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngọc Anh requested all gatherings to be stopped, except in offices, schools, hospitals and other places for election purposes.

The gathering limitations would not be applied in offices, schools, hospitals and other locations for election purposes, according to a directive issued by Chu Ngoc Anh, chairman of the municipal People s Committee. Vietnam will hold its general election for legislators of different levels on May 23.

No new clusters were detected in the period. The national count rose to 3,537, including 528 reported since April 27. The number of recovered patients reached 2,618. Among active patients, 25 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 17 twice and 25 thrice. A total 67,877 people are being quarantined nationwide, with 1,018 in hospitals, 27,641 in designated facilities and 39,218 in their places of residence./.

Strictly following 5K message would curb local COVID-19 infections: Expert  Tuesday, May 11, 2021 The serious observance of the health ministry’s 5K message would help stop the community transmission of COVID-19 in Vietnam, heard a meeting in Hanoi on May 10. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam speaks at the meeting. The 5K message comprises khau trang (face masks), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distancing), khong tu tap (no gatherings), and khai bao y te (health declarations). (Photo: VNA) The new infections took to the total number of coronavirus cases in Vietnam to 3,412, including 411 locally-transmitted infections detected since the latest outbreak hit the country on April 27. The local transmissions were detected in Bac Ninh (27), Vinh Phuc (19), Da Nang (13), Bac Giang (5), Hanoi (9), Hoa Binh (2), Dak Lak (1), Dien Bien (1), Lang Soon (1). The two imported cases are a Vietnamese citizen returning from France and an Indian expert who arrived in the country from Qatar. Both were immediately quarantined on arrival.
