New coronavirus infections from 14 northern localities linked to Hanoi hospital

At least 42 coronavirus-positive cases have been associated with a locked down frontline hospital in Hanoi, with many coming from outside the city.
The National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, a frontline facility in the nation s Covid-fight, has been locked down since Wednesday after one of its doctors tested positive for the coronavirus.
By Thursday afternoon, authorities have recorded at least 42 coronavirus-positive cases associated with the hospital, of which 22 have been confirmed as Covid patients.

Since the new outbreak hit Vietnam on April 27, the capital city has detected 27 cases, including 22 in the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in the outskirts district of Dong Anh.

Eight patients treated at a Hanoi hospital for other diseases have been confirmed with Covid-19 on Thursday, raising cases linked to this hotspot to 22.
The National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District, a frontline facility in Covid-19 fight, detected the first case Wednesday after a male doctor at the hospital tested positive for the coronavirus during an overseas trip.
Following his infection, samples of all patients and employees at the hospital have been taken for testing.
A doctor of the Military Hospital 105 has tested positive for coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19, the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control confirmed on May 6.

Vietnam recorded a whopping daily increase of 64 domestic coronavirus infections on Thursday, one-third at a hospital in Hanoi, according to the Ministry of Health.
Twenty-four of the cases were registered at the Dong Anh District branch of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, 11 in Vinh Phuc Province, five in Thai Binh Province, 12 in Bac Ninh Province, four in other venues in the capital city, one in Hai Duong Province, two in Hung Yen Province, and one in Quang Ngai Province, the health ministry said in a report on Thursday.
