Nitin Gadkari reviews progress of highway infra projects with CM
The Centre, under the Annual Plan, has given clearance for new national highway projects worth ₹5,801 crore for Maharashtra. The plan for national highways in Maharashtra was approved for ₹2,727 crore but it has been enhanced to ₹5,801 crore, which will improve and develop 1,035 km of national highways in the state, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday.
He reviewed the progress of highway infrastructure projects in Maharashtra with Chief Minister Udhhav Thackerey and senior officials in Mumbai.
Gadkari said at that meeting that a lot of construction work of national highways is underway in Maharashtra. In order to expedite these works, land acquisition and issuance of other permits should be expedited by the State Government. Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday dedicated the Chandigarh-Kharar elevated corridor to the citizens as a New Year gift, paving the way for further economic development of the region while easing the perpetual traffic congestion along the route.
The Chief Minister termed the corridor project – from Sector-39 roundabout (CH.0+000), Chandigarh to Khanpur (CH.10+185) – as the fulfilment of a long-pending need of the people of the region. With the opening of the third phase of the corridor on December 28, the project is now 96% complete, with the remaining (one side of the road at Khanpur) expected to be completed by mid January 2021.
