Volunteers and residents are set to give Southend a ‘spring clean’ as part of a national campaign to keep Britain’s streets tidy. Southend Council has teamed up with the Make Southend Sparkle Initiative in an effort to encourage people to help with litter picks in the area. It coincides with the launch of The Great British Spring Clean, campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy, which is taking place between Friday, May 28 until Sunday, June 13. Make Southend Sparkle have lined up a number of events at various beaches and parks across the borough, and will provide litter picking equipment to anyone in groups of four or more willing to take part.

South Lakeland District Council is supporting Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean from Friday until June 13.
This nationwide event is an ideal opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help clean up your corner of South Lakeland. It could be the street where you live, a nearby park or playground, or your favourite patch of countryside or coast.

Pic: Mazen Salmou LITTER picking group, Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful (KBB) has pledged 300 hours of picking to the national campaign, Great British Spring Clean (GBSC), and is urging for more residents to do their bit. The Great British Spring Clean is set to take place from May 28 until June 13 and is the UK s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. KBB celebrated their third birthday in mid May so have pledged 300 hours, 100 for every year they have been a group to support the national initiative.
