The 33-year-old was sentenced on Thursday to five years and nine months in prison by District Court Judge Helen Syme after being found guilty of two charges of sexual assault. A jury found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault of a then 26-year-old woman inside her Newcastle home in September, 2018. After a jury in March found him guilty, Hayne flagged his intention to appeal his conviction. I ll definitely appeal, he said at the time. During a sentencing hearing at the Newcastle District Court on Thursday, Hayne continued to profess his innocence.

The tattooed Jarryd Hayne supporter accused of spitting near a rape victim as she left court is a father-of-one who is on bail for a stalking offence.
Mina Greiss, 38, from Mount Druitt in Sydney s west, is the alleged grub accused of spitting toward the brave woman as she was escorted out of Newcastle court on Thursday evening.
The alleged incident came shortly after the young woman delivered a powerful victim impact statement in front of her famous rapist.

Hayne, who played alongside Williams at Parramatta, was sentenced to five years and nine months jail, with a non-parole period of three years and eight months.
Williams posted to his Instagram following the decision in Newcastle District Court. Fn dogs, Williams wrote on his Instagram story.
“To all Haynsy’s family and friends stay strong for him and let God do he’s (sic) thing I love you all … God always prevails. Before I let this be just want to congratulate the victim and the so called justice system you ve sent an innocent brotherly (sic) to jail away from he s (sic) kids you bunch of flops.. that s all respectfully.
