BJP alleges bus deal scam by Delhi govt; minister says Rs 225 cr saved

The opposition BJP on Thursday alleged irregularities in procurement of buses by the Delhi government, evoking sharp reaction from Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot who said Rs 225 crore was saved while procuring 1,000 low-floor CNG buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly, the minister asserted that the city government will procure more buses and challenged the BJP to stop it. Delhi BJP MLA Vijender Gupta alleged a scam in the procurement of buses and listed various objections regarding tenders and annual maintenance provisions. The tenders for 1,000 buses and their annual maintenance were floated separately. The cost of annual maintenance comes out to be more than the actual cost of the buses, he said in the Assembly.

Delhi govt allocates Rs 16,377 crore for education in 2021-22 budget

The Delhi government has allocated Rs 16,377 crore for education in its 2021-22 Budget, with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia saying the focus areas will be introducing a deshbhakti pathyakram , setting up Delhi s own education board, creating a virtual model school and a teachers university. In the last budget, the city government had allocated Rs 15,601 crore for the education sector. Presenting the 2021-22 budget in the Assembly on Tuesday, Sisodia said that like the previous six budgets, education this time too got almost 25 per cent of the Rs 69,000-crore outlay. Keeping in line with the theme of patriotism for the new budget, Sisodia said that the Delhi schools will introduce a deshbhakti pathyakram (patriotic curriculum) to instil a sense of nationalism among students.

BJP may replace Uttarakhand CM; Dhan Singh Rawat emerges as frontrunner

With the BJP mulling a change of leadership in Uttarakhand, state minister Dhan Singh Rawat has emerged as a frontrunner to replace Triverdra Singh Rawat as chief minister. Sources said the party may also bring in a deputy chief minister, who will be from the Kumaon region. Pushkar Singh Dhami is likely to be deputy chief minister, the sources added. The central BJP leadership recently sent two observers, party vice president Raman Singh and general secretary Dushayant Kumar Gautam, to the state to get feedback from party s core group in the state amid report of discontent against the chief minister.

Nothing new in Budget, attempt to appropriate Central schemes: Fadnavis

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the MVA government s Budget only attempts to appropriate the Centre s ongoing schemes rather than introducing fresh projects. Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented a budget with revenue deficit of Rs 10,226 crore and revenue expenditure of Rs 3,79,213 crore in the Assembly earlier in the day. The state government has conveniently forgotten to mention that several schemes it announced today had already been announced by the Centre, the BJP leader told reporters. It is a disappointing attempt to appropriate the Centre s schemes, he said. I was surprised to find that there was no announcement of one-time-settlement for farmers with outstanding loans of upto Rs 2 lakh. Some 45 per cent of farmers who were not covered in previous crop loan waiver got nothing from today s budget, Fadnavis claimed.
