To recognise the selfless efforts and services of Dr. Olusegun Agagu who served in various capacities and demonstrated quality leadership to encourage others to dedicate their lives to service to the nation is no doubt a laudable one. The Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu served as a minister of Aviation during the administration of the former President  Olusegun Obasanjo before going on to become the governor of Ondo State where he built a good legacy during his term. During his term as the minister of aviation, he was responsible for the restructuring of the aviation industry, which led to the creation of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria (NCAT)

Int l travel ban: Sanctions await erring airlines

By Dirisu Yakubu Against the backdrop of the recent ban by the federal government of travellers from India, Brazil and Turkey into the country; the Federal Ministry of Aviation has said sanctions await international airlines that violate measures put in place to stem possible entrance of new coronavirus into the country. There have been upsurge of infection COVID-19 cases in those countries with Turkey ordering a full lockdown in an attempt to curtail further spread of the virus. Recently, a Presidential steering committee chaired by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha in a statement recently said airline caught violating will pay a fine of $3, 500 per passenger.

FAAN praises Makinde over Ibadan airport upgrade

Share The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for the role played by his government in ensuring Ibadan Airport attained Category 6 status. FAAN commended the Makinde led government for committing both human and material resources towards the attainment of the CAT 6 status and the recognition by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). This is just as the Ibadan Airport management has attributed the positivity to the exclusive achievement of the Makinde administration. FAAN’s commendation according to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Oyo State Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa was contained in a letter with Ref No FAAN/IB/AM/421C/VOLI dated April 29, 2021.

NCAA lifts suspension on Azman Air -- after six weeks

Advertisement TheCable had reported that the regulatory body suspended the operations of all the Boeing 737 Aircraft in the Fleet of Azman Air Services Limited, with effect from March 15, 2021. Aeroplanes operated by the airline had suffered two tyre mishap incidents at the Abuja and Kaduna airports. Advertisement The suspension, which lasted for six weeks, was to enable the NCAA conduct an audit of the airline to determine the root cause(s) of the incidents, and recommend corrective actions to forestall re-occurrence. Azman Air said the lifting of suspension was confirmed in a meeting held between its management and NCAA on May 1.
