Punjab Health minister, CS inaugurate polio drive National January 9, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik inaugurated polio campaign by administering polio drops to children at Darbar Hall, Civil Secretariat, here Friday. The minister also chaired the provincial task force meeting for polio eradication at Civil Secretariat. She reviewed arrangements for polio campaign which will starts from 11th January. Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Captain (R) Usman Younis, Additional Secretary Sundas Irshad, Commissioners of Lahore and Faisalabad Division attended the meeting whereas all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners joined via video link. Usman Younis presented a detailed analysis of the previous polio campaigns. Speaking on the occasion, the health minister said more than 20 million children of below five years of age shall be administered polio drops in the current polio campaign.

National January 7, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said here on Wednesday that Punjab is much better prepared to battle the second wave of corona pandemic due to lessons learnt in the first wave. The minister was speaking as chief guest at a seminar on Importance of Diagnostics in Corona Prevention and Future Challenges at a local hotel. Steps for enhancing testing capacity and measures to control the spread of virus came under discussion as well. The participants were all praise for Punjab over its performance against corona pandemic under the leadership of Dr Yasmin Rashid. The health minister appreciated the organisers for holding the event.

Minister orders crackdown on unregistered blood banks Lahore January 1, 2021 LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid ordered a crackdown on unregistered blood banks in a meeting of the Blood Transfusion Authority (BTA) at the Specialized Healthcare and the Medical Education Department here on Thursday. The minister reviewed the performance of the BTA and the future strategy of the team. BTA DG Dr Shahnaz shared the progress on decisions of the last meeting. Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said, “Strict action must be initiated against unregistered blood banks. All out measures have to be taken for safe blood transfusion. Steps are being taken for safe storage of blood through use of latest technology. All CEOs and MSs have been directed to visit blood banks in their respective districts and ensure safe blood transfusion.” Registered number of blood banks has increased to 289 from 186.
