Eleazar joins CHR in calling out CPP-NPA-NDF for alleged rights violations

42 NPAs killed, 53 arrested in series of military operations since January- AFP

Published July 8, 2021, 12:14 PM A total of 42 communist rebels were killed while 53 more were arrested in an aggressive military campaign against the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) since January this year. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also reported that a total of 277 communist rebels have surrendered and 728 supporters have also withdrawn their support from January to June this year. “The AFP gained substantial accomplishments for the past months. Despite this, we must endeavour to continue our momentum to achieve more meaningful milestones,” said AFP chief of staff General Cirilito Sobejana after a command conference which will be his last as he is set to retire on July 31.

Cops in CARAGA, NPA-infested areas warned vs attacks

Published July 4, 2021, 2:55 PM Police forces in CARAGA region and other communist rebel-infested areas were advised to be both on offensive and defensive stance amid threat of renewed attack by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar issued the warning on police units after the intelligence units in CARAGA region received reports that the rebels would attack police officers even in their homes. “This kind of information should not be ignored as this may affect the safety and welfare of innocent civilians in the communities,” said Eleazar. The Chief PNP also stressed the need for the PNP and the community to work together against the CPP-NPA.

Parlade resigns as NTF-ELCAC spokesperson

Antonio Parlade Jr., a controversial military officer known for his fiery anti-communist statement and was repeatedly accused of red-tagging activities, has resigned as spokesman of the national government’s anti-communist insurgency task force. This was confirmed by Parlade himself who said that he submitted his resignation to President Duterte almost a month ago. “I want to ease the pressure to the NTF-ELCAC principals who are being questioned by legislators for designating me in spite of my being in the active service,” said Parlade. The NTF-ELCAC (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) was created purposely to stamp out the presence of the Communist Party o the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) which has been waging more than five decades of armed conflict against the government.
