For example, appointments were recently available at three Wilmington locations, (at Beau Rivage, 820 South College Road, and Mayfaire) as well as Leland and Hampstead. Later the same day, the appointments had filled.
“Our in-store and mass clinic appointments consistently fill-up,” said Danna Robinson, communications manager for the Matthews, N.C.-based company. “We will continue to add appointments as we receive vaccine allocations.”
Harris Teeter could grow the program, too, if more of its pharmacy locations get the allocations.
She added vaccinations are not new to Harris Teeter, which also administers shots for shingles and flu prevention.
Some Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations are participating, although neither chain is in the Wilmington area. And Texas-based H-E-B grocery chain recently held seven mass clinics in an effort to vaccinate 12,000 people this weekend.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, Novant Health and Michael Jordan announced a $10 million gift to open two medical clinics in New Hanover County on the southeastern coast of North Carolina. The regional health care system and Jordan previously partnered to open two Michael Jordan Family Clinics in Charlotte, N.C., bringing comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area s most vulnerable communities. Jordan s gift will help Novant Health bring this same integrated care model to more rural and rural-adjacent communities in his hometown, offering much-needed services to those who are uninsured or underinsured. The two new clinics are slated to open in early 2022.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY Though votes to secure a raise in the minimum wage to $15 failed by 58 in the Senate two days ago (as part of the latest $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief bill), Novant is following through on its promise to employees of its newly acquired New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
A hospital spokesperson announced the hospital increased employee pay to $15 per hour as of Feb. 21.
“Healthy wages are not just a recruitment tool,” said John Gizdic, Novant Health executive vice president and chief business development officer, in a press release.
