New Delhi [India], February 5 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh on Friday lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee-led government for not inviting Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to the state Legislative Assembly on the first day of the session for a speech. West Bengal Budget session is being held without the Governor s speech. How is it being done? It is not allowed in our democracy to remain in power from the back door, Ghosh told ANI.

KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said there is no alternative to her Trinamool Congress (TMC) and no other party can take its place in the state.
Mamata Banerjee, who is also the TMC supremo, was addressing a meeting of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe leaders of the party here. Only the Trinamool Congress is the alternative to the Trinamool Congress, it will go for bettering itself. No other party can take its place since it has provided the most people-friendly government in the world, she said.

The centre has given itself time - till July 9 at least - to frame and implement rules relating to the controversial citizenship law, amendments to which were passed in December 2019 amid unprecedented chaos in parliament and violent protests across the country.
In a response to a question in parliament on Tuesday- by Congress Lok Sabha MP VK Sreekandan - the Home Ministry said that the Citizenship Amendment Act, or CAA, had been in force since January 10, 2020, but rules were under preparation .
