Dharavi sees a steady drop in COVID-19 cases with 18 fresh infections

Mumbai: For the second day in a row,
Dharavi, registered 18 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday (May 8). The cumulative count in the slum colony has reached 6,610.
The active cases stand at 818 in Dharavi while 5448 people have been recovered so far

Dadar, 17 persons contracted the virus, and with that, the total number surged to 9,113. There has been a continuous dip in the number of fresh Covid-19 cases in the G/North administrative ward. Also, 7197 people have been recovered so far while the region hosts 1734 active cases.

He talked to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu, Shivraj Singh of Madhya Pradesh, and Jairam Thakur of Himachal Pradesh. He spoke to them about the situation and the measures that need to be taken to stop the disease from spreading.
Modi enquired about the Maharashtra government s plans for dealing with the corona second wave and the precautionary measures in place. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray informed about various actions implemented in the state to control the virus and thanked Modi for the center s help. On the other hand, the state recorded over 54,000 new cases in a day.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday (May 8) over the COVID-19 related situation and praised the state’s efforts to fight the virus.
According to a statement from the CMO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the call enquired about Maharashtra’s efforts in the fight against COVID and said that the state was fighting a good battle against the second wave.
The Chief Minister informed PM Modi about the state government s planning to face the third wave of novel coronavirus.
In a telephonic conversation with CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, the Hon’ble PM @narendramodi sought details about Maharashtra s fight against COVID and commended its efforts in countering the second wave.

Now, citizens have to register on the Centre’s CoWIN app
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday urged the Central Government to consider letting States develop their own apps for Covid-19 vaccination.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he has suggested developing state-level apps registration of citizens for Covid-19 vaccination.
Currently, all citizens are required to register nationally on the Centre’s CoWIN app.
“The vaccination drive in Maharashtra has been one of the fastest and most efficient with every stock of the vaccine that the Union Government has kindly supplied to the state at various times in the past few months,” he said in the letter.

Thackeray also thanked the Centre for its cooperation and guidance in the management of the COVID-9 pandemic.
Modi has been interacting with chief ministers over the telephone for the last couple of days to take stock of the pandemic situation in their states.
Maharashtra has been the worst-affected state during the second wave of COVID-19 infections. Though some of its cities, including Mumbai, have seen consistent improvement, the situation in many parts of the state remains of concern.
