Police arrest husband of Democratic New York mayor on drugs and weapons charges

 | Print this article Law enforcement arrested the husband of an upstate New York Mayor on Wednesday on drugs and weapons charges after police raided their shared home. Timothy Granison, 42, the spouse of Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, was jailed following a traffic stop, in which authorities said they found him in possession of a large quantity of cocaine with intent to sell, New York State Police Maj. Barry Chase said during a Thursday press conference. After his apprehension, investigators spent multiple hours inside the residence of Warren, a Democrat, as journalists witnessed investigators removing items from behind crime scene tape. Chase said his officers recovered an unregistered handgun during the raid, compounding his list of alleged offenses. Granison faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He has since been released from confinement and is due in court in June.

Judge Jacqueline Sisson, who came from nearby Canandaigua City Court to preside over the hearing, denied the request but said it could be resubmitted in writing. Granison was released without bail pending his next court appearance June 21. The New York State Police and Monroe County District Attorney have scheduled a late-morning press conference. Granison has been embroiled in the criminal justice system before. He was put on probation for five years after being arrested for his involvement in a jewelry store robbery that took place in March 1997 when he was 17 years old. Two other men were sentenced to prison terms for their roles in that robbery.
