Outbreak at Pennsylvania Elementary School Investigated By Ralph Ellis
Investigators are trying to find out what caused eight second-graders in one classroom plus two fully vaccinated family members to test positive for COVID-19 last week.
The classroom at Penn Valley Elementary School in Narberth, a Philadelphia suburb, has been quarantined for deep cleaning while the rest of the school remains open, Lower Merion School District spokesperson Amy Buckman told CBS Philly.
In a statement, the school district said it has not seen any cases of “linked/in-school transmission” beyond that classroom.
Montgomery County Public Health says a coronavirus variant may be responsible for the outbreak, “citing both the rapid spread within the class and the fact that two vaccinated family members of impacted students have also tested positive,” the school district said.
