Grand Valley State University has revealed a new program, Grand Valley Pledge, giving qualifying students residing in six counties free tuition for all four years.
Local restaurants and bars are putting their best foot forward after they were permitted to open for indoor dining by The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday, Feb. 1. While many are ready to be back in restaurants there are still heavy restrictions that need to be followed.
Under the newest order implemented on Feb. 1, restaurants and bars will have to operate at 25 percent capacity, groups will be separated by at least 6 feet, masks must be worn unless eating or drinking, there can be no more than six people at a table and closing time must be before 10 p.m.

Grand Valley State University is joining several other colleges in Michigan with a free tuition offering.
Grand Valley State University is offering free tuition to undergraduate students in low-income families starting in the fall.
The Allendale-based university is rolling out the Grand Valley Pledge to students from six counties across Michigan where the school has a presence, including Wayne County, according to a Monday news release. The Grand Valley State University Detroit Center opened in 2013.
To be eligible, students must be accepted to the university, have an annual family income of less than $50,000 and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Tuition costs not paid for through federal financial aid and scholarships will be covered by last-dollar institutional funding. The program applies to four years of full undergraduate semesters.
