First Lady Jill Biden visited Grand Rapids Thursday. She s promoting the emerging partnership between community colleges and pharmacies.
It’s all part of the Biden Administration’s efforts to create pop-up vaccination sites on campuses across the country.
Speaking at Grand Rapids Community College, Biden pleaded with those who have yet to be vaccinated to do so. She said the fastest way for things to get back to normal is for everyone to get the shot.
“If you re watching or you re listening, and you haven’t got your vaccine, now is the time, she said. The vaccine is safe and effective. And it saves lives.”

First lady Jill Biden will be visiting Grand Rapids Community College on Thursday as it hosts a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at GRCC’s Administration Building, 415 E. Fulton St.
Biden’s visit will highlight the partnership between federal pharmacy partners and community colleges. The first lady, who is a community college professor, will tour GRCC’s vaccination clinic and meet some of the individuals who will be getting their shots.
“We’re proud to welcome the first lady to GRCC and deeply appreciate her support for community colleges and for vaccinating our community members,” GRCC President Bill Pink said. “Community colleges will play a vital role as our region emerges from the pandemic. This pop-up vaccination clinic is one more example of how GRCC and partnerships make West Michigan stronger.”

According to Wood TV 8, Dr. Biden will visit a vaccine clinic at GRCC to highlight relationships between federal retail pharmacy partners and community colleges. The stop is expected to take place at 12:45p.m. on Thursday, May 27. Additional details about the visit have yet to be released.
GRCC s Student Publication, The Collegiate, reports that the vaccination clinic will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. GRCC President Bill Pink stated in an email,
I encourage GRCC students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Getting vaccinated offers an additional layer of protection to protect your family, friends, and community. All COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States have been deemed as safe and effective. Stopping this pandemic requires using all the tools we have available including getting vaccinated.

Biden will visit Metropolitan Community College, or MCC. The White House didn t specify the MCC campus where she will appear, but the Penn Valley location is holding a vaccination clinic on Thursday. The First Lady will highlight the partnership between federal retail pharmacy partners and community colleges during her visit to vaccination clinics at Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Missouri, the White House said.
