Police: Man with six protective orders against him breaks into Meriden woman’s home Police: Man with six protective orders against him breaks into Meriden woman’s home April 15, 2021 04:11PM By Lauren Sellew, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN — A Berlin man faces charges after police said he cut off a monitoring bracelet Wednesday and broke into the home of a woman who has six protective orders against him.  Colin McBriarty, 31, of 57 Vivian Drive, Berlin, was charged with home invasion, interfering with police, breach of peace, second-degree criminal mischief, failure to submit to fingerprints and six counts of violation of a protective order.

Meriden man shot by police charged in armed robberies, vehicle thefts Meriden man shot by police charged in armed robberies, vehicle thefts April 09, 2021 01:43PM By Lauren Sellew, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN — A man shot by police in February faces new charges of robbery and larceny in connection with a string of vehicle thefts and armed robberies.  Kenneth Strothers, 24, of 70 Liberty St., was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and second-degree assault.  On Jan. 27 police responded to the Shell gas station, 934 Broad St., after a silver Nissan Rogue was stolen while the owner went into the store, according to a police report. Shortly after, the vehicle was used in an armed robbery at the Henny Penny in Southington and about 15 minutes later in an armed robbery at the Xtra Mart gas station in Meriden.

Zackery Lariviere, 28, of Meriden, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and two motor vehicle infractions — misuse of plates and operating under suspension. Police said the incident occurred at the Parkway Motel, 1966 N. Broad St., on Feb. 14 at about 9:25 a.m. Lariviere was arrested without incident, police said.
