Contacts of domestic case test negative: CECC REBUTTING RUMORS: While the contacts of Taiwan’s COVID-19 case No. 771 have tested negative, those who spread rumors would be held legally liable, the center said By Sherry Hsiao / Staff reporter 176 people who came in close contact with Taiwan’s COVID-19 case No. 771 have tested negative for COVID-19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said yesterday, rebutting rumors about possible activity history with links to the nation’s first domestic case of the novel coronavirus since April. Taiwan to tighten COVID-19 control regulations for flight crews

CNA file photo for illustrative purpose only Taipei, Dec. 23 (CNA) Taiwan will impose more stringent regulations for flight crews, by the end of the week, to close loopholes in its prevention and control measures against COVID-19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Wednesday, after it reported a cluster infection the previous day, which was linked to a commercial airline pilot. The CECC said it is coordinating with the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) on the new rules and penalties, which may range from increased fines to a reduction in flights by the airlines. Currently, flight crews are not subject to the standard 14-day quarantine when they enter Taiwan, but rather pilots are required to quarantine for three days, and flight attendants for five days.

CECC raises COVID-19 risk level for Thailand, Bhutan, Australia

Bangkok. CNA file photo Taipei, Dec. 23 (CNA) The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Wednesday changed the classification of Thailand, Bhutan and Australia from countries with a low risk of COVID-19 to having low-to-moderate risk, citing a rise in domestic cases in those places. The reclassification means that business travelers from the three countries will have to go into quarantine for slightly longer than they were previously required to upon arrival in Taiwan, although they can still enjoy shorter quarantine periods than regular travelers. According to the CECC, Thailand s central Samut Sakhon Province has recently seen a surge in domestic cases. As nearby regions such as Bangkok have also reported cases, it means that the disease could be spreading even further, which is why the country s designation has been changed.
