With the win, the Raiders are 15-6-1 overall and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. St. Lawrence immediately pressured the Raiders’ defense, but some stellar blocked shots and saves by first-year Kayle Osborne kept the Saints off the board to start the period. At the 7:59 mark, the Saints took the lead and made it a 1-0 game. After more defensive saves, the Raiders created a ton of offensive momentum and began to pressure the net relentlessly. With 6:57 remaining in the first period, sophomore Kaitlyn O’Donohoe caused a turnover in the left faceoff zone and scored to tie the game up at 1-1.

Their own Highroad Walkers team were recently praised by Church World Service for raising $9,100 in their October CROP Hunger Walk … an exemplary feat that earned them recognition as one of the top fundraising teams in the country. “We are passionate about helping the local community and want to help as many of our neighbors as we can,” said Emily Hutton-Hughes, who is co-captain of the team with Susan Beattie.

Oriskany Falls Rotary Past President Bruce Pierce enjoyed one of his favorite duties March 3 as he presided over a ceremony naming his daughter Crystal Jadwick and her husband Chris Jadwick of Madison as the chapter’s newest Paul Harris Fellow award recipients. The couple were honored March 3 in a pair of ceremonies at the Hotel Solsville in Madison. The awards were given by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International “in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.” Their framed certificates were signed by KR Ravindran, the chair of the Rotary Foundation Trustees and Holger Knaack, the president of Rotary International.

New musical director to lead the Pathfinder Hand Bell Choir Lori Grace The next musical chapter of the Pathfinder Village Hand Bell Choir starts this year in Edmeston, with the arrival of a new director, Maisy French of West Edmeston. French succeeds director of Enrichment Services Paula Schaeffer of Fly Creek, who has retired after 23 years in the role. Although the pandemic has prevented recent live performances, the Bell Choir will hold a virtual concert later this year to engage its fans and followers. Members of the ensemble have served as Pathfinder Village ambassadors since the group began in 1982. The group has performed for civic clubs, schools and church groups and has been featured at the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Holiday Celebration for many years.
