He said the state government had placed an order for about 3.75 crore doses with the Serum Institute of India (SII) but had only received 6.75 lakh in the first 12 days of the month. Sharma said Rajasthan needs 20 lakh doses for immediate immunisation.

The state government is constantly trying to contact the Central government and the vaccine supplying companies, but no positive response is being received from either of them. Eventually, the vaccination process is becoming a challenge because of the absence of vaccines despite the strong vaccination structure in the state, he said.

Image Source: IANS News Jaipur, April 30 : Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Friday said that those aged 35-45 years will be administered Covid vaccines from May 1 at 11 district headquarters under Phase 3 of the vaccination drive. Serum Institute of India has approved our proposal of providing 3 lakh vaccine (Covishield) doses to Rajasthan and hence we are starting the vaccination drive for this age group at 11 districts where corona infection is the highest, he said. The places where the vaccination will start are Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Udaipur, Alwar, Dholpur, Bhilwara, Kota, Sikar, and Pali, he said, adding that the vaccination drive will start in other districts when SII provides more doses in the next few days.
