Director-General of the Forum of All Progressives Congress governors, Salihu Lukman has faulted the argument of the organised labour that nations who were signatory to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention, have minimum wage on their exclusive legislative list.
The face-off between the government and organised labour was a sequel to a bill sponsored by a member of the House of Representatives, representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Honourable Mohammed Garba Datti, seeking to move minimum wage from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent Legislative List in the 1999 Constitution in line with recommendations of the report of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has taken a swipe at the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for accusing governors in the region of mismanagement of 13 percent derivation fund.
He said it was disingenuous for Akpabio who as Governor of Akwa Ibom State to act like a demi-god, to accuse incumbent governors of financial recklessness just because they did not attend the inauguration of Niger Delta Development Commission ((NDDC) headquarters building in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
The governor took a swipe at the minister during the inauguration of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Secretariat Building, performed by the National President of TUC, Comrade Quadri Olaleye, on Friday in Ozuoba Town of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The organised labour in Enugu State has kicked against the bill at the National Assembly seeking to decentralise the National Minimum Wage in the country.
The union, comprising Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) threatened to “bury the political career of any federal lawmaker who supports the bill”.
The state NLC Chairman, Mr Virginus Nwobodo, issued the threat on Wednesday when he led a peaceful protest by labour to the state House of Assembly.
Nwobodo said the issue of minimum wage law did not only apply to Nigeria but across the globe.
