The agency that operates downtown Milwaukee s Wisconsin Center convention facility and other venues ended 2020 with a larger loss than previously reported.
The Wisconsin Center District lost $9.3 million last year after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of dozens of events most notably the Democratic National Convention.
The district, which also operates UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and Miller High Life Theatre, in January posted a preliminary 2020 loss of $5.5 million.
But at a Thursday meeting of the district s Finance and Personnel Committee, that figure was revised to $9.3 million.
The main factor for that increased loss was a decision to include the accrual of bond interest expense in the 2020 financial statements, said Steve Marsh, district chief financial officer and senior vice president.
