In an advisory sent to parishes, the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) said Flores de Mayo activities may be celebrated provided that these are held only within the church premises. Santacruzan is a ritual pageant held on the last day of Flores de Mayo, a whole month Catholic feast dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This, after police were called to control the crowd that had gathered at a community pantry in Barangay Mabolo Saturday morning, May 8, 2021. City Councilor Joel Garganera, EOC deputy chief implementer, said community pantries are allowed, but organizers have to coordinate with the barangay, the police, or with the EOC for proper assistance.

Cebu City lifts liquor ban

Published May 7, 2021, 2:02 PM CEBU CITY – The liquor ban here has been lifted but establishments serving alcoholic beverages were reminded to strictly observe health protocols. “Liquor can now be bought from stores but they should be consumed at home. Drinking outside or by the road is prohibited,” said Mayor Edgardo Labella here after issuing Executive Order No. 130 lifting the liquor ban. Labella said the lifting of the ban is to help establishments recover their losses and allowed displaced workers to have their jobs back. The mayor here however reminded that health protocols such as wearing of facemasks and physical distancing must be strictly observed in establishments.
