HOUSTON A owner and management company of a Houston apartment complex is facing a suit after a man was allegedly attacked in the parking lot of the complex and died from his injuries.
Khari Greene, Individually and as representative of the Estate of Kavonte Greene, filed a complaint Feb. 22 in Harris County District Court against 2851 LLC and Roscoe Properties GP LLC alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Kavonte Greene was in the parking lot of the Oaks of Westchase apartment complex on Wallingford Drive in Houston on Nov. 17, 2020. The plaintiff alleges that an assailant attacked Kavonte Greene and caused grievous bodily injury.
HOUSTON A Texas man claims he was frauduently sold cryptocurrency that now has no monetary value.
Richard Anders filed a complaint Feb. 22 in Harris County District Court against Timi Group Inc., Ramiro Pequeno and William Lowe alleging breach of contract, fraud and unjust enrichment.
Anders alleges in his complaint that he purchased $190,000 worth of Timicoins cryptocurrency from the defendants for ten cents a coin. He claims the defendants guaranteed and warranted that the Timicoins cryptocurrency he purchased would resell for at least 50 cents per coin but was never able to sell the Timicoins for any amount.
Anders further claims the defendants representations about the Timicoins constitute fraud and that they knew the representations were false or were made recklessly in order to induce him to purchase the Timicoins.
Esteban Garcia filed a complaint Feb. 20 in Harris County District Court against Caliber Home Loans Inc.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered injuries on July 18, 2015, when he was attacked after Teresa and Jesse Garcia allowed their unrestrained dog to run through an open gate. The plaintiff alleges the Garcias had a mortgage on their property with homeowners insurance that would have provided liability coverage but during the pendency of the claim, the mortgage had been sold and transferred to another entity.
He further claims he was told the Garcia s homeowners policy was not in force on the date of the dog attack. The plaintiff alleges that Caliber Homes, who issued and managed the Garcia s loan conditions, failed to timely secure a new home owners insurance policy to replace the policy covering the Garcia s property. According to his suit, the plaintiff was awarded a judgement of $13,374 in May of 2019.
HOUSTON Texas Iron and Metal is facing a suit alleging its negligence led to a subcontractor being struck by a metal rod while unloading a truck.
Roberto Montelongo filed a complaint Feb. 22 in Harris County District Court against Texas Iron and Metal Co., alleging negligence.
Montelongo alleges in his complaint that he was hired by a store owner to do work on steel and metal beams. He claims on Oct. 1, 2020, while helping to load the metal into the back of the delivery truck, he bent down to pick up a metal rod that had fallen on the ground when another metal rod in the truck shifted.
