The Undergraduate Students Association Council held its second fall quarter meeting Oct. 10. USAC is the official student government representing the undergraduate student body at UCLA.

The official neighborhood council that represents UCLA and Westwood Village to the Los Angeles City Council is the North Westwood Neighborhood Council. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month and are open to the public at UCLA’s Weyburn Terrace.

Preliminary results for the North Westwood Neighborhood Council’s biennial election were released Wednesday by the Los Angeles City Clerk’s office. The election was held May 4 in Ackerman Union’s Bruin Viewpoint Room, as the NWWNC represents UCLA’s campus and Westwood Village to the LA City Council.

This post was updated May 10 at 8:07 p.m.  The Jamba by Blendid smoothie machine in Ackerman Union closed Wednesday afternoon after a drain pipe broke open, leading to putrid smells and light spillage.  A hole burst in one of Ackerman Union’s drain lines that was connected to kitchens in the building, said Tony Mercado, a member of the Associated Students of UCLA maintenance department working on site at Ackerman Level 1, where Jamba by Blendid is located.

Voter turnout was low Thursday as election officials, candidates and community members returned to in-person voting for the North Westwood Neighborhood Council for its biennial election.

Students and community members will vote on 19 candidates to fill 18 council positions in the upcoming North Westwood Neighborhood Council elections on May 4. Voting will be held from noon to 6 p.m.
