The four occupants of the house were assessed by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for smoke inhalation.

Crews from the Airdrie and Rocky View fire departments were called to the home in the Luxstone neighbourhood around 4:50 a.m. 

A section of Symons Valley Road was closed to traffic Tuesday as firefighters battled a large grassfire that put several homes in jeopardy.

Members of the Airdrie fire department will be working in the Emergency Command Centre dealing with the wildfires in the Northwest Territories.

As wildfires continue to rage across Canada from coast to coast, members of the Airdrie fire department have been asked to provide their skills and knowledge up north.

The Fire Prevention Bureau determined the fire was accidental, stemming from spontaneous ignition caused by vegetable fats and oils present inside the building.

Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie Fire responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Yankee Valley Boulevard east of the QEII Highway early Wednesday. The male driver died.

"This fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve," the City stated in a press release, adding that while campfires are currently allowed, they may be restricted in the coming days if conditions warrant.

The incident is not considered a police chase because of the distance between the police vehicle and hatchback when it drove off the ramp.
