According to the coalition, Ordinance 827 effectively bans homeless individuals from living on any public property at any time within Burien.

A month after it started enforcing its public camping ban, the city of Burien is now facing a lawsuit. It was filed in King County Superior Court on Wednesday by the Northwest Justice Project on behalf of three unhoused Burien residents and the Seattle King County Coalition on Homelessness.

“I think this lawsuit is a culmination of several actions over the course of many months that targeted the unhoused," said a former city leader.
