The administration of Park City Mayor Nann Worel started just days ago, but a potential challenger has already emerged should she seek reelection. A person who is vying for an appointment to the Park City Council indicated in his application he intends to mount a campaign for the top political post in Park City.

While other women have campaigned for the mayor’s office in Park City, or have publicly declared their interest before circumstances intervened to block a bid, it was Nann Worel who was able to break the glass ceiling at the Marsac Building.

Nann Worel on Tuesday was sworn into office as the mayor of Park City, completing a rise in the ranks at the Marsac Building that took her from the long, arduous meetings of the Park City Planning Commission, to the wide-ranging workload of the Park City Council and finally to the political prize of the mayor’s office.

Mayor Andy Beerman in an interview offered some of his most extensive public comments about his Election Day loss in the nearly two months since Mayor-elect Nann Worel routed him in November.

As Park City Mayor Andy Beerman prepares to leave office after suffering a defeat on Election Day, he sees success in his time in office. “I feel like I lived up to what I told the public I was going to do. I lived up to it and beyond, so I feel good about that,” Beerman said.

There was widespread community uncertainty as Park City entered 2021 with the novel coronavirus pandemic continuing to be the overriding issue. The sickness influenced much of the discussion in Park City during the year, as the local economy mounted an extraordinary comeback. But other topics also made the year stand out.

Outgoing Park City Mayor Andy Beerman on Thursday delivered short remarks during the last scheduled Park City Council meeting of his administration, praising municipal workers and saying it was an honor to work with the various members of the City Council during his four years leading the community.
