In another recent recall, Ford has recalled a number of Transit vans to repair its backup camera. The vehicle lacks an audio control module that must be installed and programmed.

Ford has added another 58,000 F-150 pickups to its recall of the vehicles for problems with driveshaft insulators.

As the Mustang enters its seventh generation, the automaker is marking the occasion with a Stampede at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

Following a years-long trial that resulted from a 2014 truck crash, the jury has awarded the plaintiffs $1.7 billion. They made a claim that a weak roof on a 2002 Ford F-150 Super Duty contributed to the deaths of their parents in the crash. Ford, which disputes the award, plans an appeal.

Ford took a major step in meeting its clean energy goals by partnering with DTE Energy for 650 megawatts of power by 2025. The solar energy firm works with many major firms in meeting their energy goals.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into front brake hose failures in 1.7 million midsized sedans. The probe into Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans follows recall two years ago of Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models. The agency received 50 complaints of similar problems in the sedans and the result is the new probe.

The automotive world is moving toward hands-free or autonomous driving. In some cases, it is using small steps as it adds to the number of vehicles covered (Ford), while in other cases it is adding large numbers (Tesla). Meantime, the NHTSA is watching and investigating.

As you would expect from an automaker that has offered police departments specialized vehicles for the last 70 years, Ford has continued the policy with the addition of the Ford F-150 Lighting Police Work Truck. It is quite a vehicle.

With only three days and counting, Ford will introduce the exciting and more powerful new F-150 Raptor R. There will be few telltales on the outside, but under the hood there will be another story.

About two months ago, Ford told drivers to park their Expedition and Navigator SUVs outdoors because there was the possibility of an underhood fire that could cause problems. Now, the automaker has found the causes of the fires. It has announced one set of fixes for the problem, while the second set is on the way.
