Ford has recalled about 63,000 Bronco SUVs and Ranger intermediate pickups to repair a problem with windshield bonding.

As the country celebrates the Fourth of July, Ford is celebrating its own anniversary -- 119 years of innovation. It is an interesting lesson in the history of mobility in the U.S.

Aside from leading the pickup market for another year, the Ford F-150 has just turned 75 and the automaker is celebrating the anniversary with a special edition.

As the old gag goes last few weeks have been Ford's "real bad, awful weeks" as the automaker has had to recall its super-popular Mustang Mach-E and 3 million standard vehicles made from 2013-2020 for Park problems.

Capping a major week of recalls, Ford has recalled about 3 million vehicles to fix a problem with its gearshift. Owners of the recalled vehicles may find themselves with vehicles that roll when they were not supposed to even though the vehicle was in Park. The culprit is the shifter cable and bushing. This is not the first time this issue has arisen.

It goes without saying that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is a popular vehicle. Indeed, the order bank for Ford's first electric was shut for a long time as the number of orders exceeded the automaker's ability to produce them. Now, dealers have been told to fix any Mach-Es before they are delivered and any others on their lot because of a high-voltage electrical problem.

Ford has recalled a number of Super Duty and other model trucks over an issue with tire safety labeling that violates Federal Motor Vehicle Saftey statues.

This week the Ford world was seemingly rocked by news that the 2.7-liter V-6 twin-turbo powerplant that powers some models of the super-popular Bronco had major mechanical issues. On looking at it more closely, it is possible that it is related to an earlier problem with the 3.0-liter V-6 that powers the Ford Explorer ST.

Ford has opened a probe of Ford's 2.7-liter-powered Bronco following reports of "catastrophic engine failures" that begin with the drivetrain and end up stopping the engine and keeping it from starting.

Ford has recalled a number of SUVs to repair a problem with the high-voltage batteries in hybrid versions of the Lincoln Corsair and Ford Escape, essentially corporate twins.
