Colin Hay concludes his review of the right-bank in this exciting if complex vintage with a selection of wines from the ‘satellite’ appellations of St Emilion (Lussac, Montagne & St Georges), Cadillac & Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bourg, Fronsac and Lalande de Pomerol.

The 2022 vintage in Saint-Émilion is one where the probability of finding excellent value at any price point is high – perhaps more so than in any other of the leading appellations. db's Bordeaux correspondent Colin Hay gives his detailed tasting notes on the wines. 

In a vintage that is complex if not exactly heterogeneous, Pomerol is, if not exactly heterogeneous, then certainly complex – more complex perhaps than any other leading appellation.

Pomerol 2022 is a story of heterogeneity, despite summer drought conditions that were brutal in their severity.  The highs are extraordinarily high, even if the lows are perhaps a little lower, reports our Bordeaux correspondent, Colin Hay.
