Although 2022 will never be remembered as a fabulous vintage for white Bordeaux, Colin Hay finds some 'miraculous' wines that exceeded his expectations 'by some distance'. Here are his tasting notes.

Colin Hay concludes his review of the right-bank in this exciting if complex vintage with a selection of wines from the ‘satellite’ appellations of St Emilion (Lussac, Montagne & St Georges), Cadillac & Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bourg, Fronsac and Lalande de Pomerol.

In a vintage that is complex if not exactly heterogeneous, Pomerol is, if not exactly heterogeneous, then certainly complex – more complex perhaps than any other leading appellation.

Pomerol 2022 is a story of heterogeneity, despite summer drought conditions that were brutal in their severity.  The highs are extraordinarily high, even if the lows are perhaps a little lower, reports our Bordeaux correspondent, Colin Hay.
