The Kings Mountain Post 24 of the American Legion told Johnson City commissioners that they were raising money to place a 100- foot flagpole near the benches at Tannery Knobs. The flagpole would host a 20-foot by 30-foot flag day and night, and a 30-foot by 50-foot flag on special holidays and occasions, such as the Fourth of July and Memorial Day.

Forecasted heavy rain has prompted organizers of Saturday’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to move the event indoors.
