As we wait for the results of this disastrous season to play out, I am going to take a bitter trip down memory lane of the 2024 campaign. I am actually going to start with the good, because there’s a ton of bad to dissect, argue about, and grumble over. I will do my best to limit the points in this post to just 2024, even though many issues are systemic and have plagued the program for years. I will also, as per usual, emphasize that my beef with the current staff is limited to its results on the field over a collection of years, not with any of them as individual people.
Realistically, there's not much else to say from the last preview. I will link it in the comments if you missed it and are interested. For right now, there are a few main things to watch as we see if the Buckeyes will go 0-2 vs. our rival this year. 1) Faceoffs Justin Wietfeldt destroyed the Buckeyes at the dot until the 4th quarter. Coincidentally, that's when the Buckeyes exploded to get within one. Can Ohio State right the ship and avoid getting so far behind that the Wolverines run away with this game too? It took until this post for me to honestly, truly, digest what happened. Not to be dramatic, but both teams deserved to lose this game. Ohio State played utterly trash lacrosse for 3.75 quarters, and took advantage of TTUN's meltdown to make the game look close. The Wolverines utterly dominated for 3.75 quarters, and then quit playing DI lacrosse and barely hung on thanks to an unsettled goal in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. That was the game winner, and the only tally the Wolverines would have.
